OTA Media was honoured to attend a landmark celebration at the Bank of England recognising Afua Kyei, recently named the UK’s most influential person of Black heritage on the Powerlist 2026. The event was hosted by BEEM, the Bank’s Ethnic Minority Network, and brought together influential figures from across government, finance and global institutions.
The auditorium was filled to capacity, with 170 people attending in person despite freezing weather. Key Committee members from the Monetary Policy Committee, Financial Policy Committee and Prudential Regulation Committee were in the room, reflecting the importance of the moment.
High-profile attendees included ambassadors and high commissioners from Ghana, Angola, South Africa and Haiti, the Chancellor of York University, Somerville College Principal Baroness Jan Royall, senior City leaders, and representatives from major institutions including HSBC, Lloyds, Rothschild, EY, the Ministry of Justice, FCA, FCDO and HM Treasury.
This celebration marked a milestone for modern leadership in the UK. Afua’s coverage across BBC, Sky News, ITV, BBC World Service and major global outlets reached an estimated 3 billion viewers worldwide, according to the PR team that managed her media schedule. Her visibility demonstrates the global resonance of her work and the importance of representation in institutions that shape national and international policy.
For OTA Media, participating in this moment aligns with our mission to spotlight the individuals influencing culture, business and public life. Afua gave a warm and deliberate acknowledgment to Edwin Danso and OTA Media for our work and contribution to her storytelling.

After last week’s revelation that my cinematic snoring could rival a tornado and lift a house, one of our readers pointed me toward a UK tech brand with products that look straight out of Blade Runner. They were right. This week’s spotlight falls on Nothing, London’s most striking consumer tech company.
Founded by Carl Pei, a Forbes 30 Under 30, Nothing refuses to blend in. While most brands stick to glossy black rectangles, Nothing goes all in on transparent design, exposed components and futuristic lighting that makes you feel like you are living in a neon lit cyberpunk future.
I went to their Soho store to try the tech firsthand and was instantly surprised. Even better, I got to play around with their analogue drum machine and ended up making beats in the middle of the shop, which took me back to my youth when I enjoyed being a music producer. It was the perfect example of how Nothing blends creativity, tech and personality into one seamless experience.
Their Ear buds set the tone with clear casings and a clean aesthetic. Then came the Phone (1) and Phone (2), complete with the now iconic Glyph Interface, a system of LED strips that flashes notifications and charging status. If a product could flirt with you, this would be it.

We are excited to share that Sessions will be returning in 2026, and as part of the build-up we are looking for a talented singer to open our upcoming Market Close Event with a standout performance. This is a unique opportunity for an emerging or established artist to shine in front of City professionals, industry leaders and creative decision makers.
Our aim is to give an artist a genuine platform to showcase their craft, grow their visibility and open new doors as we relaunch our wider programme. If you have a voice that can captivate a room and set the tone for the evening, we would love to hear from you. All styles are welcome, from soulful to contemporary, classical to acoustic.
Our previous Sessions series filmed at Google featured solo performances from Nina Rose, Lili Caseley and Sarah Ikumu, the infamous Britain’s Got Talent Gold Buzzer act. If you or someone you know would be a great fit, use the link below to apply or recommend an artist.
Let’s open the event with a voice that truly deserves the spotlight.
